Telling stories is in my blood.
While most "farm kids" talk about their work ethic and their appreciation for all living creatures that was fostered throughout their childhood, the thing I picked up on by shadowing my dad was how to connect with a customer. Our farm sells pork & poultry to upscale restaurants in Chicago, Indianapolis, & Fort Wayne. I spent many summers as a child tagging along on the weekly deliveries into the Windy City. As a young girl, I was telling our customers about life on the farm. I was making friends with our customers- and I had fun while doing so. After earning a degree in Agribusiness- Food Marketing from Purdue University, I returned to the farm to put my skills to use. Understanding things like target market, supply & demand, and different pricing strategies is all important, but the real thing that keeps customers coming back for more proved to be the connection that my dad had cultivated over the years. Yes, the product has to be great and the customer service has to be excellent, but at the end of the day our customers enjoy doing business with their farmer. I spent 5 years managing all of the sales & marketing for Gunthorp Farms before I decided to take a step back to prioritize my children. In 2021, I left my job at the farm & started freelancing. Initially I thought I'd focus solely on marketing, but I have realized I really love the design work that goes into good marketing as well. My goal is still to help you tell your story. But now in addition to helping small businesses, I also design custom invitations and party needs for individuals as well. My business keeps adapting to suit what I enjoy and what my customers need. What story can I help you tell? |
